This fall, Dismas House turned a bold new page in its story with the opening of The Dismas Hub — a vibrant, multi-use space created for learning, healing, and connection.
Just blocks from our main house, The Hub expands our mission beyond transitional housing, extending our impact into the broader South Bend community. It is a place where families are strengthened, recovery is supported, and a deep sense of belonging is nurtured.
A Home for Healing and Community
Though still new, The Dismas Hub is already alive with activity. In just a few short weeks, we’ve hosted children’s grief support groups, strategic board meetings, and focus groups shaping future programming. We’ve held a sex offender resource night, welcomed the Monroe Park Neighborhood Association, and served two families through our brand-new food pantry.
This quick activation speaks to the deep need for a space like this in our community, as well as the powerful potential it holds.
Celebrating with Purpose: Ribbon-Cutting and Mural Unveiling
More than 80 guests joined us to officially open the space at our ribbon-cutting celebration. The highlight of the day? A stunning 200-square-foot mural created in partnership with the University of Notre Dame’s Institute for Social Concerns and artist Nate Baranowski.
The mural features portraits of South Bend residents who are living and working in reentry — a larger-than-life tribute to the strength, dignity, and hope found in second chances. It stands as a visual reminder of our mission: that healing is possible, and that everyone deserves the opportunity to rebuild their life with support and community.
A Space Where Vision Meets Action
The Dismas Hub is more than just a building. It’s a launchpad for dreams. It brings together residents, alumni, partners, and neighbors to collaborate, grow, and lead.
With every gathering, every group, every shared meal, The Hub is becoming what we envisioned: a tangible step toward a more connected, compassionate South Bend.
Stay tuned. This is only the beginning.
